Taking a look back
It seems as though over the past year I have spent a lot of times communicating with Drury alumni. The reason I have is because I work at the Drury Alumni Office and I am alumnae relations for my sorority. I have been trying over the past year to keep alumni informed and help them maintain as much of an involvement as they desire. Since I have spent so much time talking to alumni I thought I knew what alumni weekend would be like. However, I did not realize the type of sentiment the campus itself holds or how much the alumni being in the presence of each other contributes to the memories they recall.
Working at the Alumni Office I got to help with a lot of the behind the scenes preparation for the events, but the best part of the weekend for me was the brunch for my sorority. Tri Deltas from 1944-1997 came, looked at old pictures, ate, shared stories, sang, and had a blast together. I had no idea that I could feel so bonded to these women who went to the same school as me many years before I was even born. A lot of their memories are not much different than the ones I have already created. Times have changed but a lot of the good things stay the same.

I bet it would be really interesting to talk with alumni, especially with those from as far back as the 40's, and see how Drury has changed and what has stayed the same.
That must have been a great experience! I went to a wedding this summer and the father of the bride knew I used to be a pi phi, so he automatically introduced me to a pi phi alum that was also there. It was so cool to share some of the similarities and differences in our times at Drury. The whole wedding was interesting- LOTS of tri-delt and sigma nu alums too! I hope you enjoy the rest of your semester!
It's kind of weird to think that someday we'll be Drury alums, marveling at how similar the new youngsters' experiences are to ours!
I think it is amazing how much dedication these alumni still show for their old school! In Germany there is no such thing as school spirit and people don't feel connected with their schools. Is something I enjoy here very much and it would be amazing talking to the alumni that went to Drury forty years ago
As part of a Greek organization I understand how great it is to see alumni. Our 100 year anniversary is in 2009, and I am really looking forward to having some of the same experiences you had.
As a member of a greek organization I cant agree with you more. We seem to have alumni events all the time that bring old and new alumni together and its really great to share experiences with one another. I always find it interesting that no matter how much the times have changed I can still relate and talk about similar experiences that we had while in college.
